Nice to Meet You!

I started my sourdough journey like many others—accidentally, while managing a busy household. Growing up, my family relied on store-bought bread, and I had little experience with baking until I entered a county fair baking contest at 14. After a last-minute scramble, I adapted a whole grain recipe and won a blue ribbon, sparking my interest in bread-making. Though I initially struggled with sourdough due to complex instructions, I eventually succeeded. My starter, Big Sexy, has become a cherished part of the family. I believe sourdough shouldn’t be overcomplicated; it’s just bread! My goal is to make the process simple and enjoyable for everyone. Ready to start? Let’s dive in!

FAQs

Do I need to have any baking experience?

Not at all! My classes are designed for complete beginners through seasoned home bakers. I’ll meet you exactly where you are, and we’ll learn step-by-step together. If you can stir dough, you are ready.

What Equipment do I need before you come to my home?

Just the basics! A mixing bowl, kitchen towel, and your oven. If you don’t have tools like a banneton, scale, or Dutch oven, that’s totally okay — I bring what we need and can also recommend options if you’d like to build your own setup over time.

What areas do you serve?

I serve homes within a 15-mile radius of New Richmond, WI, with no travel fee.

If you're outside that radius, I can still come! There is just a small travel fee based on distance. When you inquire or book, I’ll calculate it for you so there are no surprises.

I want to book a class for a birthday party/girls’ night/family activity. Can you customize the experience?

Yes absolutely! I love tailoring classes for special occasions.

Whether you're looking for a relaxed “knead & sip” evening, a family-friendly sensory baking experience, or a themed bread-making night, I can adjust the pacing, tone, and menu to suit the vibe. Just tell me the occasion when you book.

Will we bake bread during the class, or is it a take-home dough situation?

That depends! Because sourdough takes time to ferment, most classes involve mixing and shaping dough that you’ll bake the next day, along with a hands-on bake or demonstration, so you can learn the full process. If you book a pizza night class, we do bake and eat during the class!
